Frequently Asked Questions

Geography 226 is a relatively new course and the website is still evolving. We expect that there may be a few updates and changes during the term. If you find a error or problem, please notify your TA so that we can correct the error.

Printing Webpages
This website contains two frames: the index at the side and the main page. There are several options for printing a page with frames. To conserve paper and minimize your frustration, specify that you want to print only the selected frame (the main page).

Decimal Places in Calculations and Answers
Often, it is not appropriate to report a long string of decimal places in your answer. For example, your calculator may show a mean to 6 decimals. If the original data were measured to 1 decimal place, you should round your mean up to 2 decimals. If you data were measured to 2 decimals, you shuld round your mean to 3 decimals, etc. However, if you round up numbers in the middle of your calculation, your final answer may not be correct due to rounding error.

A general rule is to keep all decimals during the calculation and round to the appropriate decimal place for the answer. If you have any questions, please ask your TA.

Probability tables
You will need probability tables for Lab 2 and the inferential statistics labs. Your TA will distribute copies of the tables during the week of Sept _ to _. If you didn't get these tables, please see your TA.
